can the ASUS G50 laptop handle 8GB of ram?

I distinguish that the ASUS web page says it will take two 2GB ram chips, but has anyone tried two 4GB ram chips yet?
It has vista store 64bit with sp1. but what bothers me is the system is only rating the ram a 4.5 and i would like to get a 5.0 out of it if i can.

Can only oversee up to 4Gb total.
