Is Intel quad core processor needed for a college freshman or is the intel core 2 duo substantial enough? how much ddr2 ram is needed?

If I was you I would not get an HP or a Dell I would get a MacBook because they have the technology that you explained up in your quiz. If you have LOTS of Microsoft Software you can install them on you mac because you can introduce microsoft Xp (DONT INSTALL VISTA) and use it on you r mac. So thats that. Macs are also adequate for college. The MacBook Pro really.
