Which cpu can dell latitude d830 handle?
Feb 17, 2011 by Hrach H | Posted in Desktops
Hi, I have a Dell Latitude d830, and I wanted to upgrade the cpu. Is it achievable to install a Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 ES 2.80GHz x2 6MB 1066MHz QHBM on the motherboard. It currently has a intel essence 2 duo t7500, which runs at 2.2 ghz. If the new cpu is not compatible with my motherboard, whats the overpower alternative?
Don't try to replacement the cpu of a laptop. It's just not worth the hassle. Upgrade the ram, reliable. Upgrade the hard drive - maybe. But the cpu? It's no more than not worth it.

I distrust that the systems BIOS will support the T9600. The T9600 is a 45nm hew a contribute with a 1066MHz FSB, your T7500 is a 65nm chip with an 800MHz FSB. According to Dell, the fastest processor that's compatible with that system is the T7800 (2.6GHz), a tiniest upgrade that's not worth the cost.
