27.07.11 The LaSalle Parish Library recently received 10 laptops through the implementation of the statewide laptop checkout program, which will initiate sometime next month. 8 million competitive accede to awarded to the state library in February of 2010 from the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program of the Section of Commerce. An inservice for parish librarians was held last week by Jacqueline Lewis of the Regal Library of Louisiana&rsquo. This new laptop program is designed to give more citizens access to technology that can excel their future and Louisiana&rsquo. Many Louisianans do not have habitation computers and only 43 percent of Louisianans have access to the Internet at domestic. During the inservice, Lewis said as of 2008, as many as 20% of Louisiana&rsquo. She said the program has been set up to give citizens additional tools through the library and the capacity to stand on a more equal basis with employment competitors in job searches and continue submission.
