I made my descison either the dell or the acer netbook for a 12 year old who doesn't genuinely like gaming except Maplestory.

They are both netbooks, and not as potent as a full sized notebook.
As far as which to get..... I don't know... I would credible choose the Acer.. just because you have more Ram (depending on dell dummy), and you have a hard drive (Dell has a Solid state manoeuvre.. faster but less storage).
I personally would get one running Linux.
