i don't be aware this machine in particular, but i can tell ya that Gateway tends to cut alot of corners on their components. That's quite why it's so cheap. It's usually simple stuff, like a 500gb hdd is under control, but it comes in a 5400rpm version (which is prolly what this one comes with) or a faster 7200rpm variant, or even a 10000rpm version.
