11.07.11 EVER since gadgets with eye-popping 3-D visuals entered mainstream consciousness last year, I've been griping about the difficulty to wear special glasses to enjoy 3-D effects. So, I was euphonious excited to learn that more glasses-free 3-D devices, such as phones and notebooks, will get ahead in the world in Singapore this year, after the launch of the Nintendo 3DS handheld devices console in March. Like many people who damage glasses, I find it quite uncomfortable to wear intimate 3-D glasses over my corrective lenses. Many 3-D glasses are also not compatible across brands, which means consumers either have to drill with one brand of gadgets or end up with several pairs of 3-D glasses for varied brands of devices. To create the illusion of stereoscopic 3-D images that cavort out of the screen, the lenses in the glasses flicker, but this is sometimes perceivable and more evident under certain lighting conditions.
