toshiba qosmio screen: LG launches the first glasses-free 3D monitor with eye tracking

22.07.11 July 21, 2011 . LG has introduced its new D2000 VDU which enables 3D viewing without glasses (autostereoscopic). The 20-inch monitor is amongst the first commercial deployments of combined eye tracking technology with parallax barriers (one of two technology options for autostereoscopic displays). The eye tracking technology allows a wider pass over of viewing angles by not fixing the viewing locations allowed by the publicize. s eye, which helps in calculation and adjustment of the viewing perspective fish for to optimise the 3D effect in real time. Autostereoscopic 3D technology is not new, but until now it has been confined to smaller devices, such as the Nintendo 3DS. This is because autostereoscopic technologies, such as parallax barriers or lenticular lenses, are fixed by viewing angles and distance, something which becomes more noticeable as the flaunt size and distance to the screen increases. LG has combined eye tracking with a parallax limit in an attempt to overcome this viewing limitation.
